Well this was an unexpected surprise: Salsa legend Marc Anthony, actor Will Smith and Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny have teamed up for the single “Esta Rico” (English: It’s Good). This song came up as a recommended video on YouTube and I’ve been streaming it all day.
“Esta Rico” is Marc Anthony’s first single as a lead artist since 2014 and it’s the first time Will Smith has appeared on a track in what feels like forever. The song is sung in Spanish and English and has a throwback, 1990s Latin pop feel that reminds me of Marc’s 1999 single “I Need to Know”. But it also has elements of R&B and trap thrown in that gives the song a modern feel.
The music video was directed by Carlos Perez (who directed Despacito) and features appearances by supermodel Joan Smalls and actor Luis Guzman.
