MONSTA X – “Alligator” 20190219

The seven member group make a powerful comeback for their latest release.

K-pop boy band MONSTA X are back with a new album, Take. 2 We Are Here, and the music video for the title track “Alligator”.

We Are Here was released February 18 and is the follow up to their last album Take. 1 Are You There?, which dropped last October.

“Alligator” is a hard-hitting EDM song that was written by Lee Suran, Cage and Daniel Kim, with lyrics written by members I.M. and Jooheon. The song uses the metaphor of an alligator hunting down its prey to talk about making someone fall for them.

I’m pulled into your swamp
You’re pulled back into my swamp
Like everything’s underwater
I feel like I’ve already fallen, and I can’t escape

I’m pulled into your swamp
You’re pulled back into my swamp
Everything’s going the way I wanted it
When I’ve made up my mind, I’ll never let go
Alligator

It’s probably one of my favorite Monsta X songs so far, right up there with the album track “Play It Cool” featuring Steve Aoki. The music video is powerful and aggresive, yet elegant as it shows the seven-member group play around with the seven deadly sins.
