DAY6’s Dream Bus and the Art of Holding On

With Dream Bus, DAY6 celebrates ten years while reminding us to keep holding onto our dreams.

DAY6 have released the music video for their second title track Dream Bus. Dream Bus was alongside INSIDE OUT with the group’s tenth anniversary album The DECADE. They take the idea of a bus and make it a symbol for chasing after your dreams.

Sonically, the song leans into pop punk, invoking a sound reminiscent of DAY6’s earlier work. Inspired by Young K’s time spent on an actual bus, Dream Bus is about holding onto your dreams, even in a harsh world. The bus is a metaphor for chasing after the things that bring you joy, sort of like riding a bus to get to your destination.

“The weary sound of the engine

The suffocating air

No matter how much I breathe out, it never feels lighter

Even if I grit my teeth

Even if I struggle desperately

On this unmoving world, nothing shifts an inch

Um… are you perhaps searching for a dream?

Or are you folding it away?

I keep on dreaming

Like the handle on this bus

That I’m holding on to so tightly right now

Even if I’m shaken and stagger

I will not let go of my dream”

Riding on the Dream Bus

The music video has all four members, Young K, Dowoon, Sungjin, and Wonpil together on a literal “dream bus.” Visually, Dream Bus has a documentary-style feel with cinematic flair.

The members are surrounded by items that mark their history as musicians, a reminder of what they’ve built together. As the days transition into night and back again, the members are hopeful as the bus moves them closer to their destination.

It’s not always smooth sailing. One playful moment even shows Young K and Dowoon bickering over a four-leaf clover. Yet despite the squabbles and silences, they stay on board.

A bus ride isn’t glamorous. It’s crowded, and frustrating at times, but it takes you somewhere. In Dream Bus, it represents both DAY6’s decade-long career and the personal journeys of anyone stubborn enough to hold onto a dream.

Stay on the Bus

At its core, Dream Bus isn’t just about DAY6. It’s about us. The video shows that holding onto your dreams is pure, stubborn endurance. You grip the handle even when the world is harsh, the bus feels crowded. Even when you’re tempted to step off, you stay on board.

For DAY6, that’s meant ten years of making music together, through hiatuses, military service, and shifting trends. For the rest of us, it might mean clinging to that stubborn spark of what we want, no matter how many times the ride feels endless.

That’s why the song resonates so deeply. It captures both the band’s shared perseverance and the universal experience of chasing something fragile but vital. Because in the end, the only way to reach your destination is to stay on the bus.
