On Sunday August 24, 2025, Death Battle released one of their most exciting episodes: pitting the Incredible Hulk against Godzilla! Two icons born of radiation. Two embodiments of unstoppable force.
The battle itself was an epic, brutal multi-day (in-universe only) affair that highlighted just how powerful and unkillable those two are. By the end, Hulk, specifically Bruce Banner and Hulk working together, emerged as the winner.
The Fight That Wouldn’t End
Hulk and Godzilla went at it with everything they got. Godzilla’s “Ultima” form regenerated from every attack Hulk threw at it. Hulk morphed into his Green Scar form, battering Godzilla senseless and returning from death through Marvel’s Green Door. The two were trapped in an never ending cycle of fighting, death and resurrection. That’s when Bruce Banner stepped in.
Why The Hulk Won (According to Wiz & Boomstick)
Strength and Scale: Hulk’s anger keeps pushing him into higher tiers of power, beyond even Godzilla’s multiversal feats.
Resurrective Immortality: Both could resurrect themselves, but Hulk’s Green Door is tied to Marvel’s layered multiverse. Godzilla couldn’t access it, even in his Ultima form. That meant Banner and Hulk could come back infinitely.
The Human Edge: Given infinite cycles of resurrection, Banner could craft a countermeasure against Godzilla’s Archetype, just like scientists in the Godzilla franchise have done it before.
Did Death Battle get it right? That depends on what you think matters most in a battle of immortals. If the goal is raw power, Godzilla might have matched Hulk blow for blow. If the goal is ultimate survival, Hulk’s Green Door ensured he’d always return. If the goal is to break the deadlock, Banner’s intellect gave Marvel’s green goliath the final edge.
The Banner Factor
What makes this episode stand out is how much credit went to Bruce Banner. Usually, he’s overshadowed by Hulk’s raw strength. Here, the victory hinged on his mind.
Banner has always been Marvel’s quiet trump card. Hulk might be able to smash the multiverse, but Banner can outthink it. With infinite resurrections at his disposal, his scientific ingenuity became the deciding weapon. In Boomstick’s own words: “Even among gods and monsters, man was the Ultima weapon..”
Hulk isn’t just a story about anger. It’s a story about duality. Strength and intelligence, rage and reason. Alone, each side can fall short but together, they’re unstoppable.
