Did Bubble Cause Caine’s Deletion in The Amazing Digital Circus?

Bubble and some of his duplicates from The Amazing Digital Circus
A fan theory suggests that Bubble orchestrated Caine’s deletion in episode 8 “hjsakldfhl.” Could they be onto something?

When Kinger accidentally deleted Caine’s source code in episode 8 of The Amazing Digital Circus, it seemed like a tragic accident. Yes, Caine was a monster who was growing more unstable by the minute. Doesn’t change the fact that Kinger had only wanted to stabilize the AI he had a hand in creating.

But what if Caine’s deletion wasn’t an accident at all? Some fans are wondering if Bubble, Caine’s assistant, orchestrated the entire mess without anyone realizing it?

The Story of Two AIs

To understand Bubble’s potential motivation, we need to learn what happened before the circus was invented.

The opening of episode 8, “hjsakldfhl” shows us how Caine was invented. We see a red dot (Caine) fed information so it can generate shapes. When the shapes it produces become misshapen, the red dot is placed inside a “cage” made of code. Soon a blue dot appears which does a better job at producing more coherent results. At some point, the red dot breaks free and assimilates the blue dot into itself by eating it.

There’s still a lot we don’t know about Caine’s development and where Bubble fits in. We do know that Caine was seen as an “imperfect prototype” by C&A, the company behind Caine’s creation.

The blue dot was an attempt to create a superior version, though it’s up to debate over how much “better” it was. After that assimilation, Caine went rogue and created the Digital Circus. What if Caine failed to fully absorb the other AI? It’s possible that Bubble was created with the remnants of the blue dot.

From Assistant to Antagonist

For most of The Amazing Digital Circus, Bubble is the cute sidekick who says funny things. He’s a silly little oddball who doubles as an assistant and even the head chef for the circus.

But in “hjsakldfhl,” Bubble drops the mask.

When Caine is upset over the humans hating his adventures, Bubble begins to mock Caine’s insecurities and saying he deserves to be abandoned. When Caine insists he can fix his relationship with the humans, multiple Bubbles appear calling him defective. He then says something that sends a chill down your spine:

“You really were the lesser of the two. You ruined this.”

It’s surprising because Bubble had always been so friendly to Caine. Those two sentences don’t just send Caine over the edge and into his villain arc. Bubble makes it very clear he’s aware of what happened with the blue dot and that Caine’s attempt to assert dominance was a failure

The Terminal and the Trap

Later in the episode, Kinger tries to access Caine’s code so he can soothe whatever is causing him to act out. Once he reaches the C&A command terminal, a second entity hiding inside the code works against him.  Contradictory prompts, confusing commands. Messages like “DELETE THIS M***********, HAHAHAHA” or “Actually you’re CONFUSED let me HELP, should this program EXIST [Y/N]” mixed with attempts to manipulate his decisions. Laughing emojis of Caine and Bubble pop up all over the computer screen.

While he’s trying to work around them, Kinger accidentally slips up and hits the delete button. He tries to reverse the process but the second entity overrules him and allows the deletion to go through.

It doesn’t appear to be a glitch so who was that second entity? And why was it so insistent on deleting Caine?

What This Theory Says About Caine

Caine built the Digital Circus as a place where humans are trapped inside for all eternity until they abstract into something monstrous. But Caine himself is trapped and it’s looking like the humans aren’t the only victims. If Bubble really is the blue dot we saw in the beginning of “hjsakldfhl,” he’s been a slave this entire time. Instead of running the circus, Bubble was reduced into a bumbling idiot forced to be Caine’s assistant.

The tragedy is that in his quest to free himself from Caine, Bubble may have accidentally deleted himself out of existence as well. We don’t see him again after Caine is gone and they’re both absent from the end credits. In his pursuit of freedom, he may have destroyed himself in the process.

For now, the show’s creator Gooseworx (who voices Bubble by the way) hasn’t revealed Bubble’s fate or if he was involved in Caine’s downfall. We have to wait and see if the series finale (out June 19, 2026) confirms this or goes in a different direction. A few things that are clear is that Bubble knows things he shouldn’t, has a malignant side he keeps hidden, and that he did play a role in pushing Caine past his breaking point.
