Rookie girl group Hearts2Hearts released their first mini album FOCUS on October 20, 2025. The title track, also called FOCUS, is a house-pop song built around an addictive piano riff and minimal synths. It’s a track that draws you in musically and emotionally.
Its lyrics revolve around the all-consuming feeling of having a crush. It’s that phase when the person you admire is on your mind 24/7. Where it feels impossible to think about anything else. There are parts during the verses and chorus that repeat certain words. It might sound annoying to some, but it mimics the way your mind loops over a single idea. It really captures that feeling of someone scrambling your brain.
“Put you in the frame
You so amazing, amazing, amazing, amazing
So clear, my subject
I touch your tone, it gets shallower
Like I’m peeking in, you in the frame”
“I cannot focus on anything but you, baby
I cannot focus on anything but you
Blurry behind the focus
Half-clear, my view baby
I cannot focus on anything, on anyone but
You-you-you-you-you
Come alive view-view-view-view-view
Anything but you-you-you-you-you
Without you Adieu-dieu-dieu-dieu”
Focus has a more mature energy compared to Style or The Chase. Yet it still captures the youthful feeling of obsession without sounding too childish.
A Music Video That Feels Like a Daydream
That vibe is captured in the music video for FOCUS. It starts inside a classroom where the members are literally struggling to focus. From there, the video shifts into surreal daydream sequences. Two members engage in an epic battle that feels straight out of an old-school action film. In one moment, their teacher’s head turns into a cat.
There are scenes where Hearts2Hearts give intense stares at the camera and to each other. The girls are supposed to represent teen emotions. The quick glances, small moments like holding hands. The way someone can bring a little fantasy, a splash of color into a grey world.
Choreography That Matches the Mood
The choreography for FOCUS was made by Jo Nain, known for her work on Golden from Kpop Demon Hunters. It features waacking and vogue-inspired motions that add an air of style to the song. The dance mirrors the vibe SM Entertainment is aiming for with this era. Expressive, striking without sexualizing the members.
Why Focus Stands Out
What I like about the music video is how it captures what it likes when your brain is constantly ping-ponging back and forth between different things. Some of it probably wouldn’t make sense to an outsider. There are thoughts that loop around in your head throughout the day. Other thoughts are like mini-movies playing out inside your mind. So I’m surprised at how the directors (SAMSON) were able to capture those feelings in a three minute music video.
SM did a pretty good job at transforming the idea of being distracted by someone you like into something tangible. The FOCUS era is shaping up to be the best one yet for Hearts2Hearts!
