SEVENTEEN redefines “home” as the warmth of love, even on the coldest days.

What does it mean to feel at home with someone?

SEVENTEEN sets out to answer that question in Home, the title track from their sixth mini album You Made My Dawn.

Released in January 2019, the winter-themed EP is connected to their previous album You Make My Day. While You Make My Day represents the bright, cheerful vibe of summer, You Made My Dawn compares love to the transition from night to dawn. How the right person can inject a little light into someone’s life, no matter how dark or dreary things can be.

Sonically, Home leans into R&B and tropical house, but with a softer, comforting approach that rejects a typical beat drop for a more cozy vibe.

The lyrics speak to the kind of comfort that only comes from being with someone who makes you feel safe and understood. The song wraps itself around you like a hug you didn’t know you needed. But it’s also about wanting to give that feeling of security to someone you care about:

It’s still cold outside, the tip of my nose is tingling

Though we’re far away, the memories bring us closer

If your heart has a hole

I’ll cover it with my hands

Even if your hands are empty, give them to me so I can fill them up.

I don’t wanna let you go like this

I don’t want to be scared with a broken heart

I’m the place you can come to

You’re the place I can go to

‘Cause I’m your home, home, home, home

SEVENTEEN’s Home isn’t about a physical place. It’s about being someone’s safe space or “home” where everyone can feel comfortable, even on the coldest winter day.
