Greg Cipes, the longtime voice of Beast Boy, says he was fired from Teen Titans Go! on Valentine’s Day this year. According to him, Warner Bros. Discovery let him go after he revealed his diagnosis of early-onset Parkinson’s disease. Cipes framed the exit as discriminatory by revealing that the other original cast members stayed while he was replaced.
He also claimed the studio planned to bring in a “mimic” to take over Beast Boy’s voice in future seasons. Cipes’ has voiced Beast Boy since the original Teen Titans series back in 2003, and that accusation hit fans like a gut punch. Here’s where things start to fall apart.
The Timeline Doesn’t Add Up
Just two months after his supposed firing, Cipes posted on Instagram thanking Warner Bros. for supporting him through his diagnosis. That’s not exactly the kind of message you’d expect from someone wrongfully terminated.
Reports allege he was still recording lines for Teen Titans Go! as late as July 2025, months after he says he was fired in February. If this is true, the timeline Cipes presented doesn’t hold together.
Warner Bros. Silence
Warner Bros. hasn’t issued a direct public statement. Instead, the pushback is coming through insider leaks and industry reports. According to those sources, Cipes wasn’t let go because of Parkinson’s. Instead, they cite “performance concerns” and “creative reasons.”
Supposedly, instead of dropping him, the studio gave him lines for a new character to voice for season 10. They even floated a development deal to keep him tied to the DC universe. If that’s accurate, that paints a very different picture.
Cipes’ Controversial Beliefs
Cipes’ public image hasn’t helped. He’s posted conspiracy theories about COVID-19, promoted anti-vaccine rhetoric, and promoted those ideals using Beast Boy’s voice. He claimed that COVID “was released on us” and contributed to his Parkinson’s diagnosis. He also promoted alternative treatments like coffee enemas.
Fans have speculated that these controversial posts were the real reason he was fired. Yet again, no confirmation exists. Studio insiders consistently deny that his firing was about politics, health, or social media.
The Silence Only Makes Worse
So what really happened? Was Cipes wrongfully fired for his health condition. Is he being phased out due to inability to perform? Or did his controversial beliefs finally get him in trouble?
The truth is probably a mix of all three. Warner Bros.’ refusal to speak on the record is making the situation more complicated. Every day they stay quiet, the fan speculation only grows. Cipes has been rallying support online and encouraging fans to pressure the studio in hopes of keeping his role as Beast Boy. Cipes is painting himself as a victim of discrimination despite the inconsistencies in his story. Which is easy since Warner Bros. Discovery has a talent for pissing off animation fans.
When a beloved voice actor claims discrimination and the studio refuses to explain, fans come up with their own narratives. Warner Bros. Discovery owes everyone involved some kind of clarification to set the record straight. Until then, the silence is making the studio look worse than normal.
