In the second episode of Andor, “That Would Be Me,” the incident on Morlana One is catching up to Cassian—fast—as he struggles to stay ahead of the authorities while tying up loose ends in Ferrix.
A Wanted Man
On Ferrix, Bix Caleen (Adria Arjona) is messing with one of the computers in her garage when Timm (James McArdle) pops in to make plans for dinner. With a little flirting, Bix convinces him to move their dinner date to tomorrow and leaves. But after she’s gone, Timm takes a look at the computer screen. That’s when he sees it — a bulletin from the pre-Mor authority, calling for information about a Kenari male living on Ferrix who’s wanted for questioning. Meanwhile, Cassian’s mother Maarva (Fiona Shaw) confronts him (Diego Luna) the moment he gets home. She knows he screwed up by telling someone he’s from Kenari — a truth she’s been hiding by claiming he was born on Fest. Cassian admits he’s in trouble but leaves out the part about the two dead Corpos. The Betrayal
Cassian meets Bix at a local bar and gives her a vague rundown of what went down on Morlana — just enough for her to get the picture. He wants to sell the NS-9 Imperial Starpath directly to Bix, but she says her buyer is already en route for a meeting tomorrow morning. Timm watches their conversation from a distance, and from his vantage point, the situation looks more romantic than it really is. From his vantage point, it looks way too cozy. Fueled by jealousy and liquor, he reports Cassian to the authorities. Unaware of Timm’s betrayal, Bix decides to spend the night with him, while his guilt slowly sets in.Echoes of the Past
Throughout the episode, we’re treated to more flashbacks to Cassian’s childhood. Back then, he was Kassa — and we finally see him and the other Kenari children visit the crashed ship. Tragedy strikes when one of the older kids is shot and killed by a surviving crew member. Kassa helps carry the body back to their camp, but not before he looks back at the wrecked ship with an intense hate in his eyes.Clock’s Ticking
In the present, Cassian knows the walls are closing in. He scrambles to make arrangements to leave Ferrix before he’s arrested. We also learn why Maarva was so upset about people knowing Cassian is from Kenari — the planet was abandoned after an Imperial mining disaster and labeled “toxic” to anyone who asks. Syril Karn (Kyle Soller) and his team receive Timm’s tip, which helps them identify Cassian as the suspect in the Corpo killings. They comb through Cassian’s record, and it turns out this isn’t the first time he’s been in trouble with the law — insurrection, destruction of Imperial property, and an assault on a soldier. Karn prepares a team of about 12 people, plus himself, and they’re on their way to Ferrix just as Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgård) makes his arrival, clearly looking for something — or someone.
