The Sound of Supreme Love

The album’s concept revolves around love (the album’s title means “supreme love” in Sanskrit). It refers to a selfless, spiritual kind of love that transcends romance and becomes a way of being.

Prema mixes funk, R&B, soul, and jazz, all steeped in the passion and warmth of ‘80s pop. Songs like the cinematic “Love Like This” and the soulful “Hachikō” prove how Kaze can bounce from genre to genre.

Working with producers like Greg Kurstin, 250, Shy Carter, and Sir Nolan, Kaze said he wanted to become “love itself” as he was working on this record.

The limited edition called Pre: Prema has six Japanese-language singles plus one unreleased song, “It’s Alright.” Together, the two discs reflect Kaze’s growth, rooted in his origins but pushing into new territory.

The Serenity of Prema

Shot in Thailand, the video shows Kaze being welcomed by local villagers. From dancing with strangers to visiting an elephant sanctuary, Kaze radiates joy and openness.

The song’s breezy, R&B-inspired sound pairs with serene imagery of nature and community. It’s a reminder that love isn’t abstract. It’s something we practice with everyone and everything around us.

Every Fujii Kaze release has carried a current of hope, but Prema feels different. He widens his reach without losing the intimate, jazzy touch that defines him. By rooting the album in supreme, selfless love, he repositions pop not just as entertainment, but as a spiritual practice.
