Q: Is Franklin Richards the MCU’s Secret Weapon for the Multiverse?

🤰🏼 Sue Storm’s Pregnancy in Fantastic Four: First Steps

The Fantastic Four may be taking their first steps in the MCU, but someone else is already poised to take a giant leap. And he hasn’t even been born yet.

In The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Sue Storm is expecting her first child with husband Reed Richards. The team doesn’t have long to celebrate as they prepare to face off against Galactus and the Silver Surfer. Having Sue go through an already stressful situation while pregnant ups the stakes as Sue fights to create a safer world for her family.

We get a glimpse of her son Franklin Richards in one of the trailers for First Steps. And his arrival could be the MCU’s ace in the hole as it dives deeper into the multiverse.

🌀 Who Is Franklin Richards?

In the comics, Franklin Richards is an extremely powerful mutant, with a wide range of abilities ranging from telepathy and telekinesis to the ability to warp and reshape reality. He also has the power to create and restore universes. He’s so powerful that he’s caught the attention of cosmic entities like Galactus and the Celestials. And if the MCU leans into even a fraction of that potential, his presence could become a game-changer.

🌍 The Multiversal Wild Card

Right now, the MCU is deep in its Multiverse Saga, and Franklin Richards fits into that puzzle if they decide to give him his reality-warping powers.

We’ve already seen incursions, branching timelines, and multiversal collapses in Loki, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. And with Avengers: Secret Wars set to premiere on December 17, 2027, the stakes are only getting bigger.

Franklin’s abilities could become the key to resolving multiversal chaos. He could restore broken universes. Merge separate timelines; finally bringing the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and the main Sacred Timeline together into one streamlined continuity. In short, he could be Marvel Studios’ built-in reset button. One that allows Kevin Feige to clean house while keeping fans invested.
